"Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he has been robbed. The fact is that most putts don’t drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to be just like people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, and most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is just like an old time rail journey ... delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride."

Dear Baby,

Friday, January 29, 2010
I took a pregnancy test last night, it was positive... clear as day. I stared at it for a good ten minutes and then I called your Dad at the Fire Department, I woke him from a nap and he was in a terrible mood. I asked if he had a second to talk and he said, "Yeah, Babe- but make it quick... I want to go back to bed." and I said, "Patrick, I'm pregnant..." and he said, "Really?" and then we both began to laugh.
We have decided not to tell anyone until we find out for sure. But, I had to text my friend Summer and my SIL Allison the picture of the Pregnancy test and then I had to tell my sister, Emily. BTW- Emily has been saying for 2 weeks now, that I'm pregnant. I stayed up until 1 am thinking about all that I will have to get accomplished before you get here. I am already overwhelmed.
This morning, I woke up and took yet another pregnancy test... positive again. Its really starting to sink in. I got to work and made an appointment to get blood work done, just to make sure. Every time I think of you, I get this wonderful feeling... and I begin to envision what you will be: A boy or a girl? You will obviously be tall and probably of fair complexion with no shortage of freckles. I dream about your baby room and how I plan to decorate it and I think about how much fun this entire process is going to be!
I went to my physical therapy appointment at 1 p.m. because of neck and lower back pain due to my car accident earlier this month. I worry about my neck and back- its been 6 years since my back surgery and I had any major issues since then. AND- Suspicion of you being in my belly has prevented me from getting any X-Rays or MRI's done.
So, Physical Therapy it is!
I leave the Physical Therapist office and head to my Family Physician, she offers me two options: 1. Blood work and wait for results on Tuesday or 2. Ultrasound at the hospital.
I pick "option 2" and head to the hospital.
The lady called me back to a room, and Guess What!?
I saw YOU!

Right now, your're just a black little dot... you look like a peanut (an absolutely PERFECT peanut) and I just grinned ridiculously watching you on the screen. The ultrasound tech informs me that you're about 5 weeks old and then printed three pictures of you, so I could show you off to everyone.

We broke the good news to Grandpaw and Grandma Bozeman and a few of our closest friends about you tonight. And I plan to tell the Sorensen/ Johnson Klan about you on Sunday after Church.
You were definitely a Surprise for us! Normally, I don't like surprises... but you're a good one.

How is it that you already consume every single thought in my head?
I mean, really- you are ALL THAT I think about! I'm trying very hard not to be annoying to everyone by constantly talking about you... but it's hard.

Patrick had to work at the Fire Department, and he has already told all the guys on his shift. I headed to Montgomery with Emily and Taylor to tell the good news. I told Paw Paw Royce (Your Great Grandfather) first. The plan was for him to announce it during the prayer over lunch. A kink was put in that plan, because my parents decided to take a trip to Sam's Club and were running late... go figure. So, we decided to wait until they arrive. When the FINALLY showed up I told Mom the news and she didn't believe me because I have tricked her about me being preganant on MANY occassions, just recently New Years Day (haha, I was already pregnant with you, and didn't know it!). So because she thought I was joking, she just walked off and I showed my Dad your pictures and he began to cry. Emily had to go catch mom and convince her I wasn't joking- then after EVERYONE saw the proof and was convinced... confusion turned into Celebration.
Tomorrow, I plan to tell everyone at work. Then I will tell all the girls at Dr. Crosby's Office and H&R Block (where I used to work). and Lastly, I'll post it on Facebook and make YOU Official.

All I ask of you is continue to grow healthy and strong, Peanut. I'll do my part; pre-natal vitamins everyday, plenty of water & rest, exercise, and I'm alreeady drenching myself in CoCoa Butter lotion!

Dad and I can't wait to hold you in September,

Mom
