"Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he has been robbed. The fact is that most putts don’t drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to be just like people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, and most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is just like an old time rail journey ... delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride."

"I wish you were never born!"

Emily Ray,

With everything we had to deal with growing up... you were a constant friend and my source of laughter! Your "giggle box" was contagious and could brighten up the worst of moods. I enjoyed showing you off to my friends- I may have acted embarrassed of you... but I was always very proud. I always thought you were the cutest of us two and the most thoughtful for sure. I remember how happy you were when you finally weighed 50 lbs. (you were the tiniest thing)! I remember us watching Dirty Dancing together and how I would lay on the carpet with my feet in the air and you would jump onto my feet mimicking what "Baby" did with Patrick Swayze at the end of the movie. Every time I hear the song, "I've had the time of my life"... I think about you and I in our living room in Dallas. I remember long trips in the minivan and how we would sing, make forts in the back seat, and how we would aggravate mom. Remember the time we shot spit balls into the ceiling of the min-van? Dad was SO mad! I loved our summers in Iowa with Grandma Mary and I have such great memories of her taking us to swimming lessons, vacation bible school, the library, and all of her hair appointments. We would play in her basement- and if we were lucky, she'd let us have our cousins stay the night. Remember that time Grandma Mary bit you, for biting me? You bled!!! I still can't believe she did that! I can still vividly see her dentures puncturing your arm! I'm so sorry- I really felt bad for you! hahaha!

Ah. Our Wonderful Childhood Memories.... I could write many more- but, I'm on my lunch break and out of time. So, I'll end with this:

Even though I may have screamed at you the words, "I wish you were never born!", on a daily basis growing up... I never meant it. I'm so happy you were born 23 years ago today...I love you; I'm proud you're my sister... and thanks for always being my best friend!

Love,

Christy Elizabeth
