"Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he has been robbed. The fact is that most putts don’t drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to be just like people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, and most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is just like an old time rail journey ... delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride."

Twenty-Seven

I turned 27 today and its NOT freakin' me out since I spent half of last year thinking I was already 27.  Half of last year I was telling folks and thinking I was 27 years old until I went to a doctor's appointment in January and argued with the front desk lady about my age. ha!

So in honor of me turning 27... here are 27 random things about me:

1. I "played" the French Horn and Clarinet in Band. I never mastered either one of the instruments and I blamed it on me having braces. : )

2. I'm physically 27 years old but I feel 17. I don't want to grow up... I'm a Toys R Us kid.

3. I'm keeping a journal and jotting down some of my childhood stories. The stories are pretty bizarre and funny. I've been told by many I should write a book. But, right now- I'm keeping up with all of my stories for TBA. I'd like to be able to pull out an event from my past when she complains about something or if she's being bratty. I want her to know that she is a lucky girl because I am going to do everything in my absolute power to make HER life happy and strive EVERY single day to be a mom she will be proud of.

4. I love yard-saleing... Especially in wealthy neighborhoods!

5. Ever since we discovered TBA is a girl... I have developed a strong desire to learn how to sew.

6. I consider myself to be very crafty... except for painting- I cannot paint.

7. I would rather go to a Goodwill or a Flea Market and look for furniture than buy new particle board crap. I love buying a great piece, sanding it down, painting it, and making it new and fresh!

8. My eyebrows are WHITE and I tent them every couple of weeks with Just for Men Beard and Mustache dye. hehe

9. I absolutely HATE math. I can solve math problems until you start throwing in letters and shapes.

10. My full-name: Christy Elizabeth came from my Grandparents: Christ and Mary Elizabeth. My Grandfather Christ (pronounced Krist) was an immigrant from Denmark. The name Christy was a 70's and 80's trend name- and I just like to inform folks that I was in fact named after someone and my mom didn't just jump on the "Christy Name Wagon".
FYI- Patrick was named after his Grandma Mary too... her name was Mary Alice Patrick.

11. I would love to visit Denmark. I have family there whom I have never met. I have a cousin named Peter who happens to be my age... and we supposedly look alot alike.

12. I would also love to visit Thailand because blonde pale complexion women are treated as if their royalty.

13. I cheered all through high school- and I thought if I didn't make the Cheer leading squad I WOULD literally DIE!

14. I always won Miss Congeniality in Beauty Pageants. ha!

15. I can get on a stage and SING to an audience but I cannot get on a stage and SPEAK to an audience. weird, huh?

16. I've had LOTS of jobs...
Angelia’s Flower Shop (Age 15-17)
Super Foods Cashier (Age 16-17)
Star Video (Age 17-18)
Ruby Tuesday’s Waitress
RTJ Cambrian Ridge Golf Course- Waitress/ Beverage Cart Girl
Cracker Barrel- Waitress
Dental Assistant
H&R Block- Tax Preparer
The Chef’s Table- Waitress/ Bartender
My current job with the City

17. I feel that people who fail to cast a vote during elections have zero right to complain about public officials and have zero business discussing politics in general.

18. I will gag if a popcorn flavored Jelly Belly enters my mouth- But, surprisingly popcorn is my favorite snack.

19. I'm saving to renovate our kitchen before TBA arrives.

20. I'll throw a party for ANY reason- this aggravates my hubby.

21. My favorite television show is still Desperate Housewives- I do believe I will cry when it goes off the air. Bree is my favorite housewife.

22. In my nightmares... the villain almost always has fire-engine-red kinky hair.
Lately, in my dreams TBA has fire-engine-red kinky hair. Yikes!

23. If I could get paid to sleep... I would sleep my life away.

24. I have mad roller skating skills. You should see me- I'm pretty fantastic. AND I'm pretty good at water skiing too.

25. I eat a PBandJ sandwich at least twice a week.

26. My dad moved us from Dallas, TX to Back Roads Alabama to raise Emu's. They didn't do so well with that farming venture.

27. I absolutely hate Cats, I dislike Dogs, and I think fish are pointless.

Today was a wonderful day!
Delicious Breakfast and Brownies for me when I arrived at work
Signs and banners all over City Hall announcing it was MY special day

Thank you Amanda! I do believe you ARE my kindred spirit... Any chick that had to endure growing up on an Emu farm is a friend for life to me.

Hope you and Hubby are doing well.

I love you and the twenty-seven things that make you, YOU!

P.S. Why hasn't TBA changed? She's been a papaya for too damn long.

Rebecca! I know- I checked and she'll stay a Papaya for about three weeks. I guess she can't "Fruit Graduate" every week or she would be the size of ME when nine months is up! :)

I love you too friend!
